Leonardo da Vinci project

The Leonardo da Vinci project aims to develop an EU Guide for lay-counsellors, in collaboration the with International Federation of the Red Cross, the Danish Cancer Society and the University of Innsbruck.

The second workshop of the Leonardo da Vinci project was held in Copenhagen, June 28 -30 2011, with War Trauma Foundation staff members Leslie Snider and Linda van Dommelen present. The project was set up to develop a guidebook for the EU on the training of lay-counsellors to provide psychosocial support. The three workshop days were considered by all to be very inspiring, with intense debate on the contents of the material. In the four months prior to this workshop, all partner organisations gathered as much information as possible on the current training available for lay-counsellors in Europe. During the second workshop, this information was compiled and analysed. Since then, the writing process of the training material has begun. The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) in Denmark will now take the lead in developing the first draft version of the guidebook in the upcoming months.
